Amber Oliver and Meri Treitler started the Joey Wrap in December of 2005 after their babies, Hugo and Jake, were born a few days apart. They live and work in New York City, where navigating bulky strollers through an urban landscape is not a viable option. Babywearing seemed the obvious answer. After trying a variety of different baby carriers that did not offer all the features they were looking for, Amber and Meri designed the Joey Wrap together.

Meri Treitler is a certified personal trainer specializing in prenatal and postpartum exercise. When her son Jake was born she put her knowledge of both the fashion and fitness industries together togather to develop The Joey Wrap.

Amber Oliver has spent the past 10 years running world-wide programs focusing on child development. Most recently she ran a global child rights project for UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund). When her son Hugo was born, Amber decided to combine her professional knowledge with her background as a New Yorker to design the Joey Wrap.

Each Joey Wrap comes with an instructional DVD to teach you how to wrap and position your baby properly in the comfort of your own home.

• One of the most popular positions when using the Joey Wrap is the Front Carry Facing In, which allows the baby to be carried in an ergonomically correct, seated position. Facing In is particularly good for babies who may get over stimulated when facing out. When facing in, the baby has the option of burying their head in a safe place when necessary.
• The Front Carry Facing Out is an excellent option for the curious baby who wants to see everything happening in the world around them.
• The Womb/Cradle Hold is a reclining position which still allows young babies to look out. It is excellent for breastfeeding.
• The Hip Hammock hold is best for babies old enough to sit up unsupported.
