The two moms who created Rockin’ Baby Slings want to give credit to the very first woman who invented the sling – thousands of years ago, somewhere in Asia or Africa or Latin America. They believe she was a mother who needed to get things done while staying connected to her baby - and the sling was born. Rockin’ Baby Slings carries on this ancient tradition, translating it for the modern, hip parent.
When Natasha and Lisa’s first children were born in 2002, they couldn’t find any cool, funky baby carriers that matched their sense of style or function. They started looking for vintage fabrics, beautiful linens and fun trims to make slings that would get noticed. They added a Velcro pocket (two on reversible slings) and soon their slings were in demand!
All Rockin’ Baby Slings are designed and manufactured in Los Angeles, where the stitchers receive a fair, living wage. Natasha and Lisa personally choose all the fabrics and designs. All the fabrics are breathable, high-quality natural fibers that have been pre-shrunk and softened, and the colors have been set so they will not bleed or fade. Reversible slings are completely reversible, made from five yards of fabric. All the edges are over locked and seamed twice with 40 lb thread to ensure the strongest, safest sling.
Rockin’ Baby Slings uses rings that have gone through extensive safety testing and inspection. The metal and brass rings have been tested for up to 1480 pounds. (And while that growing toddler sometimes feels like they weigh about a thousand pounds, the Rockin’ Baby Sling can take it!)
The Rockin’ Baby Sling can be used from the day your baby is born until they reach 35 pounds. Its versatility is amazing. The Rockin’ Baby Sling is excellent for breastfeeding, working at home, in social situations, or running errands. A variety of different carrying positions grow with your baby.
The Rockin’ Baby Sling does an excellent job of distributing the baby or toddler’s weight across your shoulder and back. The fabric on the shoulder can be pulled down to form a cap that distributes the weight even more. Keeping your baby positioned high and tight in the sling makes them almost weightless.
While there’s a short learning curve to wearing the Rockin’ Baby Sling, it soon becomes as easy as pulling on a cute pair of jeans. In fact, once the Rockin’ Baby Sling is properly threaded the first time, it can remain threaded and just be pulled onto and off of your shoulder. Tightening each rail separately creates a perfect, custom fit.
Rockin’ Baby Slings are one-size-fits-all with no padding. Natasha and Lisa found padding to be bulky, hot and unnecessary. The sleek design makes it easier to nurse, more versatile as a baby blanket, cooler in warm weather, and easier to fold into a diaper bag. The Rockin’ Baby Sling is completely adjustable to fit the individual babywearer. And with such fun, funky fabrics, you will truly feel like an individual!
