Beautiful, simple carrier April 4, 2010
Reviewer: Tara from PA United States
I loved the simplicity of the mei tai. With a few practice tries, it becomes very easy to use. It also folds up tiny, takes up little room and adds no weight to a diaper bag.

I also own a Baby Bjorn, hated its buckles and straps, a Peanutshell sling, loved but no secure back carry, a Maya sling, loved but no secure back carry, and an Ergo baby carrier, liked its comfortable back carry but not its backpacking gear feel.

My daughter loved the mei tai because I could roll the fabric to shorten the body and allow her arms to be free, and she could see out better than in the Ergo, which had more fabric. I felt quite comfortable toting her 20 lbs around for an hour. The mei tai pulls slightly more on the shoulders than the Ergo but the mei tai simply feels softer and easier to me. I am now seven mo pregnant and could still use the mei tai comfortably with my toddler except that my legs would get tired.

The Freehand fabric is beautiful and very nicely made.

Light and comfi March 6, 2010
Reviewer: Yana Karzhina from Jersey City, NJ United States
This is a great carrier both for mom and baby, it is very light and comfortable on the body, unlike our Baby Bjorn that makes my shoulders hurt. I love the colors and the style too and it gets dry very fast after washing. I mostly chose it because of the back carry option and even though it requires a little more practice than the front carry I think it is worth it. My baby seems to love it too.

I love this carrier!!!! May 7, 2009
Reviewer: Rebekah M. from Hixson, TN United States
I just recieved this carrier today and I could not be any happier! It is exactly what I wanted and my little girl already loves it. It came with instructions that were easy and simple to follow and has a very low learning curve. It is exactly what I need to keep my 3 month old happy while keeping up with her sister.

Great for back carries May 3, 2009
Reviewer: kara schroeder from wichita falls, TX United States
I am normally a ring sling user, but I was needing a carrier for around the house to get chores done while wearing my 22 pounder. I really like this carrier for both front and back carries. I have found it easier and quicker to put on than a wrap, and she feels snug and secure. I also like that all of the Freehand carriers are reversible to a solid color. That feature alone feels like I'm getting two carriers in one. I didn't rate this carrier a 5 based on comfort. I was hoping it would be a little less stress on the shoulders, but she IS 22 pounds! I can see this being an awesome carrier for a smaller baby, and I can't wait to use it with our next one. The straps are lightly padded for the shoulders, so that helps, and it is much easier on my body than the Baby Bjorn Active we have. Overall, I really like this carrier; it is quick to put on, ergonomic & comfy for my baby, and helps me be close to her while getting that laundry done.

Great carrier ... for older babies April 18, 2009
Reviewer: Elizabeth Fraijo from Colton, OR United States
Upon delivering my third daughter five weeks early, I knew I wouldn't want to put her down for even a second. I love my pouch sling, but wanted to try something new. I turned to the freehand mei-tai because it looked beautiful, well-made, and easy to take along. It is very simple to tie on, put baby in, and go. My daughter is 11 weeks old, and may be at an in-between" stage. She's not a newborn anymore, so she's not content to have her feet pulled up and tucked in the pouch, yet she doesn't have enough head and body control to feel comfortable in it yet. However, I can already tell that this will be the carrier she lives in once she's a bit older. The straps distribute weight evenly making all-day wearing not only possible, but comfortable. But my absolute favorite part is the portability. The Freehand folds up so compactly that it fits perfectly in my diaper bag. This carrier is the perfect addition to any family looking to wear their baby comfortably.

Fantastic Carrier April 14, 2009
Reviewer: MCrespo from Orlando, FL United States
I bought this carrier to replace my pouch sling since my 14m old has become too heavy for one shoulder. This Mei Tai definitely does distribute the weight evenly on your back & your hips, which is what I was needed. I have back problems due to a prior accident, but I can actually carry my 22lb little girl for hrs. in this carrier and not feel any pressure or pain. It's very stylish and compact and have gotten many compliments in less than a month that I've owned the carrier.

I do agree w/ a previous review that it does take time to put on (I was spoiled by my over the shoulder & your done pouch) but w/ practice it gets easier. The package does come with great pictorial instructions but you can also find great videos on-line of all the ways to wear and put your mei tai on.
My straps have also gotten pretty dirty (even having a dark color) because the are so long; wish you could keep them tucked in until you need them.

Overall I love this carrier and would recommend it to anyone.

Mei Tai Rating April 1, 2009
Reviewer: Danielle S. from Ankeny, IA United States
My baby and I enjoy this adorable sling. It is comfortable for mommy's back and shoulders. The padding on the shoulders are thick enough to be comfortable, but not bulky. Even though it is relatively easy to put on, it does take a minute or two. I have not used it in hot weather yet, so I cannot say if it will be breathable on long outings, but it seems lightweight enough.

The length of the shoulder straps are long. They have already become dirty from dangling on the ground when putting it on.

I also notice my son not really having a comfortable angle to rest his head on my chest. Unlike a ring sling where he can lay his head on my shoulder, he resorts to smashing is face in my chest or having his head lay back on the sling. It would also be nice to have a position where he can look outward.
I give this sling a 4 because it is better for my back and comfortable, but it is limited in ways you can wear your babe.

No directions at all February 26, 2009
Reviewer: Brianna H. from United States
I ordered this online because I wanted a carrier for my baby that would hold her in the correct position for her legs and not have her basically hanging all the time. The wrap is beautiful and well made, but there are no directions at all that come with this carrier. I was very dissapointed with this. I have absolutely NO idea how to wear this. I can't find anywhere on the site that shows how to wear this either. That is why I have given this product 2 stars.

Directions for Freehand Mei Tai February 26, 2009
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Brewster, OH United States
I don't actually own a freehand mei tai yet, but I just wanted to say that if you go to YouTube and search for it there are some awesome video clips of a lady putting one on with a baby and taking it off. Here's a link. It looks very easy!
