The European tradition of wearing children in pieces of cloth has long been overshadowed by the invention of the stroller (or pram), popularized by England’s Queen Victoria. But prior to that time, European women wore their babies in a variety of wraps and slings for hundreds of years. Rembrandt even painted a portrait of a woman with a baby strapped to her back! Didymos Woven Wraps reintroduced baby wrapping to Europe in 1972.
The ultimate in wrapping luxury, Didymos Woven Wraps are made in Germany. They come in a variety of lengths, which can be used to wrap newborns to toddlers on the front, hip or back. A stunning variety of patterns, or colourways, offer variety and options to match your entire wardrobe. Several different weaves offer varying degrees of support and versatility. Far more supportive than stretchy, jersey style wrap carriers, Didymos Woven Wraps offer more support than you ever dreamed possible in a baby carrier.
The Didymos Stripe Carrier is woven specially to provide incredible support in all directions, with a natural give to the fabric. Due to the strength of the fabric, and the double-hemmed edges, Didymos Stripe Carriers will not stretch or wear out, and can even be handed down as a family heirloom. Your child’s safety comes first, and Didymos Stripe Carriers are free of poisonous dyes and heavy metals, and are not processed, finished or treated in any way. They are completely hypoallergenic. The hand-harvested cotton is free of insecticides and other poisonous chemicals, and child-labor is never used in the production of Didymos Stripe Carriers. Didymos Stripe Carriers are also made using hemp, linen and wool, all of which are also free of toxins.
Of all the different colourways offered by Didymos, the Stripe Carriers are known to be the most supportive. The fabric is slightly thicker and warmer than a Jacquard weave, but the tradeoff is unbelievable support. The pattern on the Didymos Stripe Carrier is the same on both sides.
Didymos Stripe Carriers are easy to care for. They can be machine-washed at cool temperatures, and ideally hung to air dry. Didymos Stripe Carriers come in seven sizes, and the length should be chosen based on the kinds of carries you plan to do, as well as your own size. Most people wishing to do a two shouldered front carry will need a size five or up. The smaller sizes are best for rebozo-style hip carries and quick back carries. The Didymos Stripe Carrier is in the shape of a parallelogram with tapered ends, which are less bulky to tie.
Every Didymos Stripe Carrier wrap comes with a how-to DVD, with clear tying instructions for eleven different carrying positions. With some practice, you will be an expert wrapper in no time!
