Description

The makers of the Sleepy Wrap Baby Carrier wore their son constantly in a wrap for the first two years of his life. When he got too heavy, they sought out other options and finally created the Boba baby carrier. After using a wrap for so long, soft structured carriers weren't comfortable, and more than anything, their son felt insecure, leaning away from their bodies in the common brands.

With their previous carrier design experience, they began to design the Boba Baby Carrier. To give their son more security on their backs, they gave the Boba Baby Carrier extra height to better support an older child's back. They also added a safety buckle, and then they had their best idea of all. They added foot straps to the Boba Baby Carrier to give bigger legs a place to rest and prevent the fabric from digging into the child's hamstrings.

The Boba Baby Carrier was born after eleven different prototypes, during which all the safety features were tested again and again, the perfect butter-soft organic cotton was found, and input was sought from mountaineering professionals in their hometown of Boulder, CO. (Hence the name: the Boulder Baby Carrier became the Boba.)

Other features of the Boba Baby Carrier, which is designed for use with children from 15 – 45 pounds, are nicely contoured shoulder and waist straps, 100% organic Texas cotton lining, and a wider seat which offers better leg support and brings your little one's body closer to yours.

Those nifty foot straps on the Boba Baby Carrier are the main feature that differentiates it from other structured carriers. They are adjustable length and intended to support bigger legs, for a child over two. A sliding adjustment rail puts the leg straps in the perfect position for your growing toddler, and they can also be used to roll the carrier up into a fanny pack position when the child is out of the carrier.

To understand why the added leg support of the Boba Baby Carrier is so important, think about how much more comfortable it is to rest your feet on a support bar when seated a tall stool. This is because the foot rest naturally tilts the pelvis, fills out the hip sockets and aligns the spine. With more support comes less pressure on the spine.

Like the Sleepy Baby Wrap Carrier, the Boba Baby Carrier is machine washable, which should be a given in a product for toddlers, but is not always the case with structured, backpack type carriers. Instructions are included, to get you back carrying in no time.

Just because your toddler has outgrown their stretchy wrap doesn't mean your baby wearing days are over. Like the makers of the Boba Baby Carrier, you can extend those snuggly days longer than you ever dreamed possible.

excellent carrier April 3, 2011
Reviewer: brooklyn mom from New York, NY United States
Having owned the bjorn classic, the bjorn active, the beco, the mai tei, I prefer the boba. It's simplicity in the one strap release is a blessing. I love that I can wear this exactly like a  back pack, easy on easy off with back and hip support. it We purchased the boba when my son turned 15lbs, but he did not have enough neck control, and seemed lost in the boba, now that my son is older the longer back support that the boba offers is also appreciated. I always worry that he might fall out of the beco, which I understand has an even higher back support than the ergo. I've had the boba for over 3 months now. I'm actually getting more excited with this product, a comfortable front and back carrier for up to 45 lbs..wow. and I know for a fact that both my Baby and I will be comfortable, because I've tried this with my 4 year old. He gives it top ratings too. I only wish that I had this 3 years earlier. my back and my neck still haven't recover from the bjorns.

Awesome Carrier! September 23, 2010
Reviewer: Gillian from Pella, IA United States
I've been using the Boba for about a month, and I absolutely love it! I use it for my 12mo, and have been wearing her mostly on my back.

It's lighter than a hiking backpack.  It's easier to use than our mei tai (buckles vs tying).  It's more comfortable than a Snuggli.  And it disperses weight better than a ring sling.

I can get my daughter on my back (by myself) pretty easily.  If she falls asleep in the car, I can usually transfer her from car seat to the Boba (on my front) without fully waking her.  She really enjoys it, and gets excited if I ask her if it's Boba time.

That being said, when I had my three-year-old on my back, the footrests didn't really hold his feet.  The velcro didn't seem strong enough to support the weight of his legs at the angle/position they should be.  I only tried twice though, so maybe I need to try it a few more times.

It was definitely worth every penny - I would recommend this to anyone who plans on babywearing a not-so-little baby!

Boba 2G - Willow September 1, 2010
Reviewer: Angela Loych from Mount Wolf, PA United States
I am loving my new Boba 2G!  My daughter is 21 mos. and I have tried out several SCC carriers recently and this one is a keeper.  Here is why I love it:
*supportive waist band
*just enough padding on the shoulder straps so that its comfy but I don't feel like a football player!
*dual adjustable shoulder straps make for a precise fit
*soft/breathable/lightweight fabric
*curved shoulder straps
*bands to roll the extra webbing into
*great colors - the green swirled fabric panel on the Willow is feminine enough that it makes the carrier pretty, but gender neutral enough that it would work for a boy

I've not used the sleep hood or foot straps yet but I think they are both nice features that will come in handy as she gets bigger or if she falls asleep in the carrier.  So far I've only used the carrier on my back, but its been very comfy and I barely feel any of my daughter's weight on my back.
So glad I bought this carrier and that I found such a great deal at ebabycarriers.com!
